Chapter 24

Luca

I park in front of Sabrina’s house with nerves flying through me. Her parents asked me to come to dinner and even though we aren’t even dating, her choice not mine, I accepted. We have a bye this week so I was able to come on a Friday night.

Even though I have been a bit possessive this week and I’m sure it’s pretty obvious something is going on, technically none of our friends know we are seeing each other, so I’m on my own tonight. I tried not to hover over her like a caveman, but she is so fucking sweet and delicate, I feel the need to watch over her and protect her whenever I can.

I’m already nervous meeting a girl’s parents for the first time, and one just so happens to be a hero of mine, so my anxiety is at an all-time high. She told me that she is really close with her parents so I just want to make a good impression.

I really like this girl, freaking love her actually. As a friend, as a person, what’s not to love? She’s kind, and giving, and comforting to everyone she’s close to. There’s a reason I call her Angel and it’s not just because of her divine looks – although DAMN.

The fact that I want her to be a serious girlfriend is secondary to those feelings, although it’s killing me to not be able to call her mine openly.

Sabrina is insisting that we see each other quietly to see if we “mesh well” or something like that. My heart is already fully entangled with hers so I don’t know how else we need to mesh, but I’m not going to push her.

She already thought I was just after sex, which yeah – would be fucking amazing with her, but I have to convince her this isn’t some quick thing for me. She has buried herself in my heart and I don’t want to be without her.

I knock on the door and Mr. Trevor towers in the doorway looking intimidating as hell.

“Hello, Sir.” I say with a hand out to shake.

He takes my hand and gives it a firm shake.

“Luca, good to see you again. The girls are finishing up dinner, come on in.”

He gestures me in and I wait just inside to follow him.

The house is expansive yet homey and welcoming. It’s like a giant lake cabin. Intricate yet rustic wood surfaces warm the inside from the floors to the beamed ceilings and accent walls. A giant stone fireplace anchors the living area and humongous windows are scattered around every wall. Warm golds and blues make the vast space look less intimidating and it’s a stark contrast to the boring variety of beiges in Jake’s stupid Spanish Villa.

We walk into a huge kitchen and Sabrina is dressed in a cute sundress with her hair down and is pulling brownies out of the oven sporting a frilly apron. She looks at me nervously as she takes oven mitts off her hands.
